Nerissa Yan represents corporate and individual clients in various civil litigation matters with a focus on complex corporate disputes including contractual disputes, shareholders’ disputes, creditor-debtor’s remedies, real estate and strata disputes, fraud and defamation. She also represents clients before the British Columbia Human Rights Tribunal, Employment Standards Branch, as well as on regulatory and professional disciplinary matters before administrative and professional regulatory bodies. She represents clients in the enforcement of foreign judgments or arbitral awards in British Columbia and she advises clients in defending such proceedings.
She is fully bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese and speaks conversational Japanese. She is admitted to practice in British Columbia and Ontario. She is a regular contributor to pro bono organizations and Chinese Language media serving the business community.
Prior to joining Hakemi & Ridgedale LLP, she articled at a national firm’s Ottawa office. She is licenced to practice law in both Ontario and British Columbia.
